The 2026 UCLA Advanced Lung Disease and Lung Transplantation Symposium is an in-person conference, organized by UCLA Health and a multi-disciplinary group of speakers. The goal is to provide updated information on state-of-the-art therapies for patients with end-stage lung disease, including medical and interventional approaches, as well as lung transplantation.

This conference is targeted at Pulmonologists, critical care physicians, internists, cardiac and thoracic surgeons as well as allied health professionals who care for patients with advanced lung disease or refer patients for lung transplantation.
At the conclusion of the program, participants will be able to:
Evaluate current evidence and emerging innovations in lung transplantation, including candidate selection, donor assessment, organ preservation technologies, and post-transplant outcomes.
Apply contemporary diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for the management of advanced lung diseases, including interstitial lung disease, pulmonary arterial hypertension, bronchiectasis, and advanced COPD.
Recognize clinical factors that influence transplant eligibility and timing of referral for patients with progressive or end-stage lung disease.
Assess management strategies for critically ill patients with acute respiratory failure who may be candidates for lung transplantation.
Interpret evolving diagnostic tools and noninvasive monitoring strategies used in the evaluation and longitudinal care of lung transplant candidates and recipients.
Identify the impact of infectious complications, including respiratory and fungal infections, on transplant candidacy, peri-transplant management, and long-term outcomes.
Integrate cardiac, gastrointestinal, and other systemic comorbidities into comprehensive care plans for patients with advanced lung disease and lung transplantation.
Evaluate the clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and management of emerging causes of advanced lung disease, including artificial stone silicosis.
Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary team members to optimize care before and after lung transplantation.
Incorporate evidence-based practices and recent clinical advances into the management of patients with advanced lung disease and lung transplant recipients.
